That type of matcmaking also can make a lot of trouble, rare items cost a lot more and people without rare items at much higher levels can get matched to people with rare items at a much lower level, which will result with a disaster for the rare item user...

My two cents...
SideOne is on the right track but...
If the SMC value of all the equipment, rare or not, is an accurate representation of the power of that item, then when match making, I think the TOTAL SMC of that mek (SMV) should be the value used, not just the rares on the mek...
I mean, if the Devs are using a formula for the cost of an item, for instance 1 side weapon slot = 5k smc, 1 top weapon slot = 4k smc etc, then the cost of an item should represent its value. (I think) lol, not a math major
The reason I like the SMV method is that it will allow anyone to battle anyone as long as the SMV of the meks are within the parameters set for the match...

im going to say no to this. i like fighting at level 28 and it's not because of the compatition i have around me it's because i like the combination of weapons for that level and it's the most comftorable fighting ive had since the start. ive tried playing at lvl 33 and i did alright there aswell but it just wasnt as enjoyable and i had to change my fighting style completely. and this is for me at this level maybe some other people feel the same at different levels. higher or lower

Not if you keep the level range in as well.

Korupt wrote: Oh, I agree with you. I think it should a fancy algorithm/formula like you said. I was just using the rare item thing as an example because rare items often are disproportionately more valuable than any non rare item, regardless of SMC value. But referring to at as SMV, I like.
Still, this method is not 100 % perfect. For example. the blue lookout is less than half the price of the red lookout, but is it any more valuable? I think the SMV should be quite a complicated algorithm if it is going to work well, but I am just glad that I am the not the dev in this instance. Yep, I hear ya there. Look at the chassis, the Two Head, Scope, and Soldier. Not a real big difference item wise or price wise between the Two Head and the Scope. Then compare the Scope and the Soldier. About the same difference in items between the Two Head and Scope as there is between the Scope and Soldier yet the price between the Two Head and the Scope is 4.6k and the price between the Scope and the Soldier is 62.5k.
It almost looks like they just slapped an added cost on a piece of equipment and called it a rare where the non rare gear costs look comparable in cost. Even comparing rare costs seems out of whack when comparing rare to rare.lilconquer wrote: im going to say no to this. i like fighting at level 28 and it's not because of the compatition i have around me it's because i like the combination of weapons for that level and it's the most comftorable fighting ive had since the start. ive tried playing at lvl 33 and i did alright there aswell but it just wasnt as enjoyable and i had to change my fighting style completely. and this is for me at this level maybe some other people feel the same at different levels. higher or lower Lil, that would be the point of an SMV system. You would be able to battle at any level or stay where you are by configuring a mek to a certain SMV.

Just for future reference please do not use blue text as it is reserved for mods, as is the color red. Any other text color is fair game though.
