this tip is good for the first 30 ticks of a round (maybe 50 or more)
In the first tick you start skip turtural and protection. Build up to lv 4 farm, Lv 3 gold, lv 2 wood, and the barracks then build 5 units to defend. (i think that fits under the salary cap)(if you have any resources left build hawks nest and then energy lv1) Conquer colony's and raze outposts to gain resources.
If you support then build lv5 farm and lv4 gold as well (maybe lv3 wood) and try to get range infantry. On the second tick get a worker boast with your tokens(this will increase your resources per tick greatly) Conquer colony's and raze outposts to gain resources.
If it is after tick 150 forget about building units to defend just concentrate on resource buildings. You can build units but they would be used to attack outposts and raze them not defend.

Good start guide, a lot of people forget/or decide it's a waste to invest in Energy Reactor on tick 1, but it slowly pays off even if it's only 1e per tick.

And i highly doubt you'll have the range structure on tick 1 xD more like tick 80
