Hi all.

There is an account holder on Supermechs going by the name:

"StormTrooperz".

He is password phishing and successfully duped my son into handing over his password. He then locked out my son's account. Obviously this spoils the fun and will upset players - very unfair. On a more serious note it has the potential to allow an unauthorized user to guess credit card details.

I suggest deleting this user from your clan if you know the player. I have reported the user to the admins.

Cheers.

Have safe fun.

Well, thanks for the warning. However, the game itself has a pretty good security. I do think that this is "DOA" (Don't trust anyone).

Simple as it is, there are a lot of scammers around in the game lobby. So I say, just do not give your account details to any body. So as good as he offers, do not trust any body that will randomly send you a pm and will come and say "Give me your user name and password and I will give you mine."

That is all, thanks. :)

Pretty much correct we advise strongly in our TOS to keep your password to yourself and no one else should have access to your account.

The best advise we can give is just to ignore these messages and if these types of players are not "stealing" accounts they will eventually give up and therefore these incidents will stop and hopefully no more incidents like the ones you have mentioned should occur.

Personally I would try and spread the message of not giving out your password to anyone amongst your clan and friends. This would hopefully help solve the problem.

in addition, none of our staffs will be asking for your password in any case. Simply put, don't give your password to anyone. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, please change your password immediately.

Other good practices to protect your account is not to use any personal information, or even commonly used words as password, and change your password on a regular basis.

Also, be cautious when using public internet and public computer. And check your computer for any trojan or keylogger on regular basis. We also don't recommend, and don't allow using third party programs to log in BD to hack, cheats or to gain any unfair advantages, since they are fake and can take your account any time.

All of this is very correct.

I would also like to add that we use other providers to handle payments - losing your SM account in no case puts your credit card at risk. :)

The best thing to do if this happens is to just block anyone who is trying to steal passwords. I once had to tell someone it was against the ToS to give your password away and you could get banned for it. They said they didn't know and that they would stop. After I told them, they kept on doing it. :|
