It has now been 2 weeks since it happened. When I heard about it I were at a cruise and was told there had been an explosion in Oslo (Norway's capital). I went online and it turned out to have been a terror action, 8 people killed. But if that wasn't enough the terrorist had went to Utøya (a island outside of Oslo) dressed as a policeman. On Utøya there was a youth camp for a political party (labor party), he told them to come over to him, he had something to tell them about the expolsion. When they started to gather around he pulled out a semi automatic rifle and started shooting the kids, then followed to hunt them down on the island. For over an hour before the police came and he surrendered. The confirmed number of deaths are 68, the youngest 14 years old.

It's a sad thing, I have talked about it with some of my friends. However I feel that the silver lining of this tragic event is that Norway has come together over this and not broken apart like the terrorist inteded.
It has also revealed something dark about us. Everyone immediately jumped to blaming Al-Qaeda for these attacks when the terrorist came from within Norway itself.

Yes, its the sad truth that it was done by a Norwegian. But its also true that norway have grown stronger from this, two of the most quoted slogans after it happened is "If one man can show this much hatred, think about how much love we can show" and from our prime minister "we will fight it with more democracy"

Well, this terrorist was captured, something that most other terrorist doesn't.
Even his lawyer has said that he is mentally sick, its like he lives in another reality.

Its got nothing to do with religious beliefs. Terrorism is a tactic. For example, what is the best way for the Al-Qaeda to advertise and promote itself? Make america hating speeches? Write newspaper coloumns? Or do they openly campaign for support from the people? No one will listen to them.
Now kill 3000 people from the worlds strongest country, bring the 2 towers that stood as symbols of economic freedom and prosperity down, and then accept responsibility for it. Doesn't that give them the spotlight? It does and that is exactly what they want. The whole idea that terrorists are religious fanatics killing for pleasure, is a misunderstanding. They are NOT religious fanatics, they just say so. They all have political agenda. Some of them are - Withdrawal of US forces from the middle east, Condemnation of Israel for what they did in Palestine and the Gaza strip etc. Now to further their political agenda, they indoctrinate people they recruit, make it purposefully religious, and then commit atrocious acts of violence, and then promote themselves. Good or bad, publicity is good right?
