What are peoples opinions on the best software (and best free software) for various uses?
e.g;
Anti-virus: AVG
Office/text/spreadsheets: Open Office
Music/Video player: VLC

Also, can anyone recommend any good free performance enhancing programs? (e.g. fixes registry errors, analyses and fixes any other computer speed slowing problems)
