In 1994, a hispanic physicist named Miguel Alcubierre came up with a theory and design for a potential warp-speed (faster than light) space craft. At the time, however feasible the technology might have been, the energy demands were completely off the charts, and utterly impossible to manage. Apparently though, new breakthroughs are being made in this field that dramatically reduce the amount of energy needed, as well as the size of the vessel that would be needed to manage it!

Wow, I did not think it would be possible and now they have made adjustments that might make it really possible I bet Stargate fans are going completely batty over this.

Worm holes are almost the same idea.
A worm hole is the bending of space to instantaneously be at Point A and B. For a fraction of what we perceive as a millisecond, we'd be in two places at once, then at point B. It literally would be instantaneous.
Now for warping.
It's believed that if we were to accelerate to the speed of light we would break down into light. But to go beyond that would be almost like ceasing to exist within the confines of our own reality. Therefor it could be highly argued that warp speed is instantaneous as it would break the very fabric of reality...at least seemingly to the crew involved. Of course this is depending on how you interpret meta physics, and quantum mechanics. But image a speed so fast that you JUST were somewhere simply by willing it. Not too far off from teleportation, but without actually being teleportation.
Bare with me for a moment on this one, think about it.

This is interesting because i believe that time itself freezes when your enter light speed, my reasoning is that orbiting satellites have to have programmed clocks that are different than ones on the surface of the earth. This effect is caused from high speeds in the orbit around the earth, its called time dialation it goes with the theory that time slows so you cant break the speed of light. If this made no sense then read what wiki wrote lul. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_dilation

Actually Elric, the fabric of time and space is known to flex and bend. Einstein being one of the first to develop the theory that a large object (like a planet) actually bends space and time by sheer gravity alone, and that the further from that source that you get, the less you would feel this effect.
Its actually an applicable theory, since the military has to recalibrate the times on their satellites constantly via feeds to the atomic clock here on the ground, as it seems that time here on the ground travels faster, and the clocks on the satellites end up a few seconds off every few hours.
I believe there were even tests that proved this to be true at high altitudes within the atmosphere.
Anyway, the point is that space and time bend. It is this principle that is thought to be able to be used for us to bypass physics as we know it. Yeah sure, it is thought currently that the speed of light is abolute velocity. However, just a few hundred years ago, we were sure the earth was flat and had "4 corners".
