A Discussion consists of two or more parties attempting to convince each other they are right. It usually consists of a topic, several arguments and two statements. Oftenly a pro and an anti statement.

A debate consists of two or more parties trying to convince the ones NOT in the conversation of their right on a statement/topic. Meaning unlike with Discussions, it is not the goal to convince the other party and factual information and arguments aren't as important. In debates the goal is to convince the ones outside of the conversation, the means to reach this are irrelevant.

Please realize that giving your opinions does not in any way belong in here, neither does any thread that asks for people to vote on a statement. You're missing the point guys.

In a discussion, continue until either, both parties give up or one party is convinced.

In a debate, decide how long to continue up front and after that have a vote purely based on that debate over the subject.

Purely judged from titles, on the first page of the forum, the following topics do not belong here:

"BEST ANIME EVER" matter of opinion, nobody can be right and I don't see anyone debating this anytime soon.

"What halo 3 weapon will you choose" matter of opinion, not a discussion, not a debate.

Correct topics judges on titles:

"Debate: Am I the game's greatest player ever."

"Life After Death/The creation theory vs the evolution theory" - Text book example, this has been discussed and debated countless of times. Best for debates, as neither parties will ever give in.

Cheers.

I'd love to! I always wanted a baby duck ^.^

No problem at all mate, I hope the mods can just change the current sticky to clear this out and move some topics around :)

I know, it seems the same thing that hit Spam hits Di&De now. Not much we can do about it :(
