This is was a popular debate back when I was in high school in Japan. Now let's look over the issue here.
Some people think death sentencing should be in effect. <= I'm on this side, i'll post my opinion aster someone else posts.
Some people don't believe in death sentences.
So what's you're argument? Please stay on topic.

Listen, I'm all for an eye for an eye, and an ear for an ear. However, not to that extreme. I am also a firm believer in not stooping as low as criminals. That makes us no better than them, if we just kill them off.

death sentences are basicly murder, but with 100's of witnesses that won't do a thing about it. I think it is wrong.

it not murder it is justice
if someone kill someone for personal gain, hatred, and god for bid fun
i don't believe they have a right to have what they took
I honestly i believe that if someone can be undoubtedly proven guilty of premeditated murder (or an accomplice to it) they should get the death sentence
not only would it remove many prisoners serving life sentences from the crowded prisons it would discourage criminals in the first place
and on a related note i think quality of life for all standard us prisoners is too good

Sometimes, innocent people are sentenced to jail for rape/murder.
That's why they're shouldn't be a death sentence. /thread.

look into the case of Teresa Lewis
She has an IQ of 71, only just above the standard of mental retardation.
one of her two accomplices, both smarter then her, later wrote a letter claiming full responsibility and actually pressuring her into doing it. he killed himself. the two people that actually killed were given life sentences, borderline (Want to be allies? Sometimes I like to pretend I am a princess riding a pony..) was somehow allowed to be given death sentences.
Iranian turdbag Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a point when comparing this case to stoning women in Iran without fair trial. She had the planning ability of a kitchen table and yet she was executed "FOR JUSTICE"
anyways... 1. Death sentences cost more then life term inmates. seems counter intuitive actually isnt. in the case of Teresa Lewis, she underwent 7300 appeals in the usual "dying isnt cool" process, such number of appeals can skyrocket way more then the number listed above. consider the cost of 7300 appeals in terms of state appointed lawyers, each appeal could cost anywhere between 100-1000 dollars. you up for 7.3million dollars? to legally kill someone is not anywhere close to a cheap process. even if i am exxagerating, its only a slight exaggeration, there are many trials that can go for years and judge+lawyer time is expensive
2. justice. killing a deranged, sadistic bastard isnt justice IMO, let the bugger suffer in jail, let him unwillingly contribute back to society in one way or another behind the walls of prison and with limited freedoms. he could print license plates, be used as hard labour, anything really, freedoms were given up when he/she decided to go out and kill someone. death comes too easy.
3. its barbaric and inhumane, even the supposedly humane lethal injection is apparently agonising. just that the person can exhibit or express it. is your ideal 'stoning FTW'? lets just bring back crucification.

Also, to add on, there are some REALLY crazy/horrible/cruel/messed up people out there. If they are just sentenced to life in jail they could eventually break out and wreak havoc! We can't have these kind of people simply locked up, they must end on the spot.
