I wanted to respond to. I do not know which clown. Will the real clown please stand up?

After skimming through the drama, the validity of the arguments on both sides, and the brief insults. I find a locked topic. Please someone help me understand why anyone would want to shut up our beloved community? What are they hiding? Avoiding? The truth would need no "though shall not" discuss.

Speaking of that when an Admin is basing his decisions on how he can affect the outcome of the game then the system needs to be re-evaluated. He is no longer being objective, which no longer provides a fair game for all players across the board. He is being egotistical. Biased has been instituted and in this instance, sorry for ya if he is a GIFT or Kevin fan. Yes, it was stated that the admins have the capability to do this, though Just because they can do it, doesn't mean that it needs to be done. I am very able to do many thing, that I just do not do because it is unethical. In my field this could be grounds to lose my license. Since this is just a "game" it might not be looked at in the same fashion, but I assure you the principles are still the same regardless. Maybe, Admins need to regulated. hehe

Hey I have been know to be wrong once in awhile. Someone enlighten me.

The real clown that locked the topic is me :D

And the clown had a reason, cuz some other clown decided to proceed with insults and personal attacks against my alliance and myself, and ruin all the fun. I always love to have a constructive heated debate, but that is not what happened.

Anyway, sorry about that, I can reopen it or we can continue here. Now this is more like to the point, and keeps things in perspective. This is exactly what I said as well as Avi. Admins should moderate the game, but not decide what game mechanics a person or an alliance gets to use, even if his intentions were solely for the purpose of entertainment. That is way too much power to influence the game and any admin can be called out and can expect backlash because of it. If there is such a system in place, like you said, its time for a change.

I think admins can play servers where they dont admin. If I am right. Tampering with ingame mechanics is not fun for anyone lol. Infact I would encourage admins to play a competitive world to really understand what we are talking about. I suspect there could be some disconnect between the players, the admins and how the game works from a players point of view, which they would understand only if they did a round seriously and put in time, money and effort.

I guess I was the clown in this case :D

viewtopic.php?f=89&t=13128 <- i locked
The reason was simple. Juno starts trolling and got out of topic as well.
I didn't expected that Seth opened it again ..... and still missed the point we were talking about

I don't mind anymore. Lately it seems that we are just the "players" who have to accept all changes that an admin wants to do. Another great example was this :
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=11133

I allready retreated from being a BD mentor and will quit playing after this current e4 era.

I just naturally assumed that admins were fair and impartial. My experience with playing BD has show me that this is not necessarily the case. I was going to list a bunch of bunch of instances that I have known as examples, but I'm sure all of us have been involved in them in one way or the other. I

Seth for instance wanted to jump start the community with his games. This is not the root of the problem. I personally believe forum participation has dwindled because of the way players are treated both in game and on the forum. The fact that Admins are not being monitored appropriately and that as a community we do not have a recourse to review unfair actions. Not to mention when certain topics are brought up they are not judiciously addressed, they are ignored leaving the community feeling just that. Who wants to be involved when they do not have a voice?

Yes, I do realize that admins are people just like, subject to their own personal values, beliefs, and desires. That they are providing a service as employees. They have been fulfilling a role and they have done a good job in general. Yes, they are not perfect. The problem with that is we are accepting status quo. Sure, war is always fun (when its a game) and their will always be new players, but our beloved pastime could be so much more than what it is.

I propose that we have a committee or review board of players, and admins. Maybe, 2 admins, 3 experienced players, 2 new players. That all have equal vote. That answer directly to whoever is in charge of the admins (really should be the community). This review board can decide on topics such should admins be making biased decisions to affect the nature of the game as it is being played? What tic should relics come out on? I keep hearing that admins are busy that's why banned colonies are not deleted right away or a pm takes 4 days to answer. Where do they find the time to see who is controlling what territory and should I put more units on this relic because of so and so is located there?

If this is not feasible, Why? If someone has a different solution what is it? And If this is going to be ignored by the admin. Just have enough respect for the community to say so.

lol. Im glad you have enough faith to insinuate that I just ignore you

that's alright though. I understand where you are coming from.

This is no easy job, and it is thankless. Heh. You wouldn't want to have the morning I had being stuck locked in a bicker war between members of the top 2 alliances on E4 over some *cough* really shady tactics being used, and be basically stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to make an impartial and fair decision knowing full well that no matter what you choose, someone is going to be pissed about it.

Anyway. Im sorry if you feel ignored. Its easy to sit on the other end and speculate about what it is like to do this job and how you can fix it, but then again, you aren't the one having to confront the issues head on from several hundred players (minimum every day.

Anyway, I am not going to argue with you. I really do not see a point in it.

I will say this though. Find me another game in our genre that you even get to talk to an admin, let alone have one actively police the game. I believe our biggest competitor is Evony right now. Have you ever played? If so, ever talked to an admin there? I have played, and there is no direct contact with administration. I have also played several hundred other browser based strategy games in the same vein as ours. As a gamer, I can say that you are lucky in this genre to even get a ticket system that addresses technical issues, let alone get a platform to have complaints addressed in general.

When I started, I was told that the initial plan for BD was to have everything completely automated with no direct administration outside of bug reports and technical issues handled through a ticket system.

Lately, I have been getting the impression that this is being considered once again. Mostly, I think in light of the fact that staff contacts are being leaked out, and upper management IS getting complaints from the community and is starting to realize how thankless the job is, and how there really is never a way to please everyone all the time. What is fair to one player is completely unfair to another. I think this is leading to reasoning that removing admins from the equation completely is the path of least resistance. Honestly, I am beginning to see the logic.

No one misses water until the wells run dry. Ya know?

oh, and to address the banned colonies not being deleted, there is an issue with banning players. I have banned players and deleted their colonies after severe multi abuse, and there was a bug in the system that allowed them to rebuild the same tick the colony disappeared. Since then, I have vowed not to delete them until this was fixed. Im still waiting. But I wont bore you with another layer of admin frustration
